U.S. Department of Labor Selects Plateau for Enterprise-Wide Talent Management Solution

Integrated Learning, Performance Management and Career Development Solution to Support 15,000 Employees; Affirms DOL Commitment to President’s Management Agenda

Arlington , VA. – February 6, 2007 – Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational skills and talent, today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor ( DOL) awarded Plateau Systems an enterprise-wide talent management contract to support 15,000 employees throughout its 19 sub-agencies. Under the terms of the agreement, DOL has selected Plateau’s Talent Management solution and will deploy Plateau Learning Management with Plateau’s Individual Development Planning and Competency Assessment Modules, providing a consistent, unified platform for managing and evaluating competencies that are linked to learning and development across the entire agency.

The contract was awarded by DOL and the Office of Personnel Management/ Government On-Line Learning Center (GoLearn). Plateau, a GoLearn partner since 2002, was awarded prime contractor status based on a proven record of success with Federal customers under the GoLearn initiative, and for demonstrating and delivering the leadership, knowledge and skills required to support the GoLearn mission.

DOL, the federal agency responsible for occupational safety, wage and hour standards, unemployment insurance benefits, re-employment services, ranks at the top of all federal departments in meeting the initiatives outlined in the President’s Management Agenda (PMA). In the most recent Executive Branch Management Scorecard, the Department of Labor is one of only two Agencies to have received the highest possible marks across all five PMA areas, including human capital. DOL and its sub-agencies including Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) and Women’s Bureau (WB), have consistently earned a “green” rating in the area of strategic human capital management. The agency was also the first to receive the President's Quality Award for Performance in Integrating Management Systems for its management excellence and for specific PMA management initiatives.

Plateau’s unified talent management solutions will replace the legacy software currently in use across DOL, allowing the agency to consolidate all talent management information, including an agency-wide competency library, onto a single platform. Plateau’s ability to provide a flexible and scalable talent management platform that could support the unique requirements of all DOL’s separate sub-agencies was a critical factor in DOL’s selection of Plateau’s solution. Deploying a single, configurable talent management application and information system that can support specific agency requirements will enable DOL to facilitate and improve workforce planning and performance while reducing administrative overhead.

Upon implementation, DOL will work with Plateau to import and integrate the DOL competency library with Plateau’s talent management applications. With Plateau’s assessment capabilities, employees and managers can collect feedback from internal and external peers including subordinates, colleagues and superiors to gain a broader view of an employees overall performance and effectiveness. Employees can then use this input to gain visibility into recommended areas for development and initiate learning and training activities designed to improve their current performance and prepare them for future career-advancement opportunities.

“Widely recognized as a model of human capital management excellence and efficiency, the Department of Labor continues to earn high marks for its leadership and commitment to achieving the key human capital requirements identified in the President’s Management Agenda,” said Paul Sparta, Chairman and CEO of Plateau. “By taking a comprehensive approach that focuses on effective performance management, professional development, succession planning, and continuous learning, DOL is again demonstrating its leadership in human capital management. Selecting Plateau’s talent management solutions to enable this approach will allow the Agency to achieve its overall goal of ensuring that the right people are in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills, to accomplish DOL’s mission.”

With a proven record of success in the government market, Plateau’s talent management solutions are powering learning, training and performance initiatives across several federal government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Internal Revenue Service and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
